Fort Monroe

Hampton, Virginia

Originally known as Fort Comfort and the site of the first  documented Enslaved Africans in Virginia traced back to 1619.  An amazing commemoration was held in 2019 to honor the enslaved. Today the national park welcomes many and a memorial will be erected soon.
